On September 16, 2019 Emile, co-owner of Mutana, and her husband Micöl welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Zinnia, into the world. Shortly after her birth Zinnia was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, or HIE. HIE is a brain injury that occurs just before, during, or shortly after birth, and is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. Zinnia fought hard for four days and ultimately decided it was best to say goodbye. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
Her sweet little soul has had an extraordinary impact on our lives and continues to be a guiding light that the family looks to for strength, love, and inspiration. Zinnia’s life is not defined by her death, but rather by the imprint it has left on the world. For the Love of Zinni™ is part of her everlasting legacy, and was created by Emile and Micöl to honor the life of their daughter.
The mission is to make financial contributions to organizations that support families during and after the death of a baby, those that are involved in efforts to understand and prevent the many causes of pregnancy and infant loss, and organizations that provide support to families preparing to welcome a baby into the world. Proceeds from the sale of For the Love of Zinni™ products will be donated to these organizations. We also wish to be a resource for families enduring the unimaginable pain of saying “goodbye” to their precious baby.

This sweet, simple poem perfectly expresses the magnitude and "never-endingness" of the love Zinnia's parents feel for her. We chose to put it on a mug because we know that it is a sentiment that anyone can relate to when thinking about a child or loved one who means the world to them.
